Martial Arts has always been revered as a discipline that enlightened the soul, however, we can admit that many who do practice martial arts are far from it. So, what are those who are enlightened doing that others are not?
First, we must clarify that martial arts is potential power; in broad strokes, the power to do good and the power to do bad. The outcome is based on the desire of the mind and heart of the individual.
Focusing on doing good...
The mind and body is connected; the mind follows the body as well as the body follows the mind. Training martial arts puts the body into a rigorous state to strengthen muscles, bones and even the nervous system. The decision to undergo hardship is a conditioning of the mind to push itself to its limits, and strengthen oneself to go beyond it. The body and mind then develops a natural acceptance of challenges in all areas of life.
The formation of the positive and never-give-up attitude removes the duality of good and bad; becoming just something you must simply accomplish. In removing your negative association with dis-ease, your ability to flow through life becomes a down stream like ride.
It is not to say you must feel Zen like throughout life. Feeling bad can be helpful good, as it helps clarify what you do want, giving purpose to life.
